Jenson has always been
one of the most beauticul classic typefaces (it's the
model for Centaur, another gorgeous face). Robert
Slimbach's careful revival is a masterful work that's
also a technical tour de force. Unlike Centaur (which may
actually be more beautiful), Adobe Jenson is designed to
work at all sizes. Because it's a Multiple Master font,
you can create versions specifically tailored
for specific point sizes. You also have precise control
over weight. These features make the face much more
versatile. Adobe Jenson also comes with small caps, an
expert set, alternate set, and swash characters (notice
how there are three different kinds of numerals.
Jochen Schuss found inspiration in Ghana for this exotic, decorative face. Esperfonto: Casual/Modern/Cool Jim Parkenson's Mojo (now who would have thought I'd be talking about someone's Mojo on my site?) is an adaptation of typefaces popular in 1960s poster art from San Francisco (which were, in turn, based on Art Nouveau lettering). Groovy, huh? Esperfonto: Casual/Modern/Fun.
Musica is one in a series of revivals from the famed Photo-Lettering library. PL had a huge range of typefaces in phototype format, and it's good to see some of their faces finding their way into digital form. This face was originally called Bel Canto in 1968. ITC has made some design adjustments to make the face more suitable for digital output, but the delightful flavor of the face remains intact. Esperfonto: Formal/Informal/Modern/Friendly |
