Brian Stokes Mitchell is a Tony-award winning actor, singer and dancer. He’s also the most talented and nicest person I know.
He originated the role of Coalhouse Walker with a Tony-nominated performance
in the Broadway musical Ragtime. He won a Tony for his star turn in Cole Porter’s Kiss Me Kate. Now he performs cabaret and concert performances (sometimes with large symphony orchestras). If you ever have the chance to see him in person you must, because he’s one of those truly rare people who is literally thrilling on stage.
He recently released his first CD (which he produced, and orchestrated). I redesigned his official site for the release of the album--he wanted it to have a different vibe--where his first site had a kind of retro feel, he wanted the new site to be a bright “chameleon” of color to reflect the chameleon-like nature of his many singing styles. I kept the signature deco typeface, but everything
else is new--a very clean, modern design bursting with delicious color.

To the right you can see the first version of his site, which I designed and built in 1998. I created a kind of modern scrapbook look that’s simple but rich, with an art deco feel to it.
Since most people had slower web connections, it was graphics right, but bandwidth light. I still work to make my sites efficient so they load quickly, even on dial-up
